kashmir trip 2011 part 3 Pahalgam Betaab vellay, chandanwari , Aru vellay
Day -4 01/11/11
Today decided to do the local trip , booked the same Innova for full day for Rs-2800.00 . we had the breakfast at the hotel itself and started by 10.30 am . our first destination was Betaab vellay , Reached by 10.50 am . we had to pay entry charges of Rs-10.00 per person . Betaab Valley is the place where they shot the famous scenes from movie Betaab .Its just 7kms from Pahalgam on Chandanwari Road .It derives its name from Sunny Deol’s ( Action Hero of Hindi Cinema and son of another veteran Dharmendra )Movie BETAAB which was shot extensively in this area . The producer of the movie had also built two Huts for the Movie and stayed in the area for about 2 months to shoot . Those who saw the movie can also recall the songs
1 Jab Hum Jawan Honge ,Jaane Kahan Honge
2 Dekho Maine Dekha Hai Yeh Ek Sapna,Phoolon Ke Shehar Me Ho Ghar Apna
Both the songs were shot in this valley and the song Dekho Maine Dekha hai was shot actually in the Hut built by the producer of the movie. The Hut has been demolished and a lodge cum rest house has come up in the area . A beautiful garden and a bridge to cross the Shesh Naag river has also come up now. The Valley is surrounded by Snow Covered Mountains Peaks , Dense Pine and deodar Forests With River Sheshnaag originating from Sheshnaag Lake ( Holy Amar Nath cave area ) flowing majestically through it . The river Moves to join Lidder just 7 Kms below At Pahalgham .Clusters of Willows tossing each other in wind are lined on the banks of Sheshnaag river . Like Lidder ( Ancient name Lambodhiri ) , this river is also a home to TROUT fish . For fishing, Anglers have to procure a proper permit from Pahalgham . A group of photographers are always there to take your snaps in this Picturesque valley
we enjoyed there for 1 hrs , there was little shower also , the climate was very chilled and we enjoyed it ,
We left Betab vellay at 12.00 am and reached Chandanwari by 12.40 am .The distance from Pahalgam to Chandanwari is 16km . The trek to Amarnath yatra starts from Chandanwari . We can see the Snow capped mountains & a huge glacier in the vicinity, We travelled up to Galcier . Then suddenly there was snow fall for shorttime . The snow would melt as it touches the ground .We were there for 2hrs .
Aru is a grassland surrounded by a gorge on one side. It is 12 km from Pahalgam. Aru is a beautiful shaded valley of the Lidder river. Encircling and protecting Aru, are the conifer- spread mountains with occasional flash of high, snow-covered peaks rising against the blue sky. Aru is one of the most beautiful hill resorts of Kashmir and is still, serene and idyllic. There are small hamlets of wood-and-stone houses, some of them in the typical Gujjar-shepherd style with flat roofs, squat and backed against the hillside. Towering at a height of approximately 2408 meters, it follows the shepherds' trail to the high Kashmiri meadows.
