Day 8 5/11/11 Today we have kept for local sightseeing and market . first we started with Shankaracharya temple The Shankaracharya temple is situated in the Srinagar district on the hill known as Takht-e-Suleiman. It is housed at a height of 1100 ft. above surface level of the main city on the hill. It is believed that Raja Gopadatya got the temple constructed in 371 BC, giving it the name of Gopadri. kashmir trip 2011 part 1

This Kashmir trip was planned in March 2011 itself .All the flight tickets were purchased in March , so we got good deal , In rs-10000 per person we got the flight tickets for all the three - mumbai to jammu , jammu to srinagar , srinagar to mumbai , we were all 3 families , - 8 Adult and one child Day -1 - 29th October 2011 we had booked Meru the previous day for drop to domestic airport , Santacruz , time 3.30 am . Meru arrived on time , Reached the airport by 4.00 am . we had to wait for other members , soon they also arrived , and we checked in by 4.30 am , The flight was on time , Spice jet 5.55 am .Reached Jammu by 10 am . collected the baggage and proceeed to taxi stand , we booked two indica  for Rs-975 each for Katra soon we were on the road . Day - 5 02/11/11 In the morning had the breakfast at Hotel Brown itself . Booked the Travera for drop to Srinagar for Rs-2000.00 , On the way visited the bat factory , On the way visited Avantipore ruin .Its is about 30 km from Srinagar on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Its an ancient capital city of Avantipora founded by Rajaj Avantivarman.Its also famous for its two imposing temples, now in ruins, built by him. The temple was constructed by Lalitaditya , the Brahmin emperor of Kashmir, and King Awantivarman .This is an historic temple built by Awanti Warman from whom the place got its name as Awantipora. The place is usually misrecognized by the people saying Pandavas place because the material used in building this place is usually panadava stones. That's why people misrecognize it. But all its history is written inside it. It is said that this temple has gone almost 20 feet deep under the earth and that only its top side is visible. One of these temple...
